Harry Potter Tour!

Harry Potter tour was so cool! We got to see the real sets they filmed the movie on and everything that went into making these movies so amazing. There were tons of props and costumes and sets. I now know why it took them 10 years to finish them.

Churchill War Rooms!

Yesterday we were able to see the Churchill war rooms where Churchill himself was running the war. These were under ground barracks that no one knew about until after the war had ended. Churchill only moved underground after his home was bombed. This is where he and many other military service people helped win the war.

Portsmouth & Jane Austin's House!

Portsmouth was a really awesome place to be. We were there on the U.S. Veterans day and the UK Remembrance day. It is a old ship yard that they use for tourism now but is still protected by active military members. We got to tour the HMS Victory that was used in the battle of Trafalgar in 1805 by Lord Nelson. We also got to see Jane Austin's home where she wrote most of her most famous novels such as Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma.

Hampstead Heath!

So Hampstead Heath is a huge super pretty park in the middle of a small town. There is a house nearby where the movie Belle was filmed. This park was written in the Doomsday book King William the Conquer made to keep track of all his land and taxes he put on people. It was just another beautiful place to see especially with all the leaves right now.

Nottingham & Bletchley Park

So this last week was our last overnight trip of the semester. :( But we got to visit Nottingham which is a beautiful house and gardens where Lord Byron lived for a large part of his life. He had one room that he used for pistol practice with bullet holes in the walls. He also had a wolf for a pet. Byron was a very interesting man. But the gardens and house were beautiful. Then the next day we got to see Bletchley park which sounds nice but it was actually a secret camp for the military during WWII. There were many huts and stations where people would be trying to decode the German messages. This is also where the decoding machine was built and where  the movie The Imitation Game was filmed all about what went on there. It was an amazing place to visit.
